Education and Scholarships

The Education & Scholarship Committee strives to provide educational opportunities and financial support for emergency nurses in Colorado, enhancing professional development through scholarships, conferences, and specialized education offerings.  

To advance the professional growth of emergency nurses across Colorado by offering academic scholarships, hosting a state conference, and developing educational programs that benefit ENA members through Continuing Nursing Education (CNE).  

1. State Conference Planning and Execution: Host an annual Colorado ENA State Conference, ensuring a high-quality event with engaging content for 200 participants.  
2. Academic Scholarship Program: Administer academic scholarships for nursing students at various educational levels, with a maximum of $2,000 per recipient. 
3. Continuing Nursing Education: Organize and present educational sessions at member meetings, including specialized offerings relevant to emergency nursing. 
4. Colorado Nurse Awards Management: Oversee the awards process, from category development to nominations and final selections, culminating in an awards ceremony during the annual conference. 

• Organize state conference logistics, curate relevant emergency nursing content, ensure seamless execution for participants, and foster networking and professional development opportunities. 
• Promote the scholarship program to nursing students, administer the application and selection process, and notify and recognize recipients.  
• Organize and present educational sessions at member meetings, develop specialized emergency nursing offerings, and ensure all CNE programs align with ENA’s goals to improve clinical practice. 
• Develop award categories, manage the nomination process, facilitate a fair selection of awardees, and host an awards ceremony to celebrate nursing excellence at the annual conference. 

The Education & Scholarship Committee’s efforts have significantly impacted the Colorado ENA community by increasing state conference attendance and sponsor support, ensuring a successful and well-attended 2025 conference. We’ve also expanded our scholarship program, providing greater financial support to nursing students at various educational levels. 

With the introduction of over 12 CNE credits annually, we’ve facilitated ongoing professional development for members. Additionally, we’ve seen an increase in award nominations and recognition of outstanding Colorado emergency nurses, fostering a culture of excellence and appreciation within our community.
