There has been recent attention on the rising overhead costs for nurse staffing agencies. Nurses are keenly aware this is only one piece of the larger puzzle of issues negatively impacting health care and the nursing profession. The bottom line: safer, quality work environments are a must for nurses and improved patient outcomes.
We call on Congress to introduce legislation and influence agency actions that promote positive policy solutions, like workplace safety, staffing decisions made by nurses, and competitive wages and benefits, for nurses and the health care system. But we cannot do this without you adding your voice!
Please share with your members of Congress the struggle you have faced or witnessed regarding your nursing work environment. What may have worked well and what hasn’t? Many nurses have been unable to take time off during the pandemic or working mandatory overtime, facing severe staffing shortages and not being properly valued. Please take a moment to shed some light on your personal experience.

I Colorado's 2017 Resolution Requesting a National Standard for Child Passenger Restraint was PASSED by the ENA General Assembly! We requested the ENA work with other key stakeholders to develop one set of standards for child safety seats. State laws and several organization recommendations conflict. We asked for one solid resource everyone can turn to for best practice.
Colorado's 2016 Resolution Requesting Research on the Impact of Marijuana Legalization on Emergency Departments, Children, Adolescents, and Young Adults was PASSED by the ENA General Assembly!
A BIG thank you to our 2016 President, Shawn Ullrich, 2017 President Sharon Schultz, and 2018 President Jeane Shupe for all of your hard work writing and presenting this resolution!!
